Charlie’s First Alert Forecast: Scattered showers continue to move onshore

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - The area of low pressure we’ve been tracking over the past several days will finally move onshore tomorrow. This will lead to gradually increasing rain showers today, tonight and tomorrow morning. The National Hurricane Center is tracking the low and is giving it a low chance of tropical development (10% chance). We do not anticipate the low will stay over the warm waters off our coast long enough for the low to develop into a tropical system. Rain showers will be frequent Saturday before turning more scattered and spotty on Sunday and Monday.

Winds out of the northeast at 10 to 15 mph will blow in tonight before accelerating to 15 to 20 mph through Saturday. Highs today will reach the upper 60s to low 70s, and the cool temperatures will stick around tomorrow as highs Saturday will stay in the 60s. The winds will shift to the south-southwest Sunday and Monday, helping temperatures climb about ten degrees into the upper 70s.

A few spotty showers will hang around Tuesday and Wednesday before a high pressure system moves in and pushes the rain clouds out to sea. Temperatures will be on a gradual upward trend, taking us to the upper 80s by next Thursday and Friday.
