GRIFTON, N.C. (WITN) - The town of Grifton is now under a boil water advisory after a water leak Friday morning.

The water leak, at Queen Street and South Highland Boulevard, was fixed, but the loss of water pressure has forced the town to ask customers to boil water for human consumption.

This includes drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation. Grifton has around 1,100 homes and businesses on its water system in Pitt and Lenoir counties.

The town said tests are being done to confirm when the water is again safe to use.
