Russell’s First Alert Forecast: Monday is proving to be much warmer and cloudy conditions are also possible
Record high temperatures possible later this week
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - A period of showers and mostly cloudy skies will begin to move along the coast through the overnight hours. Temperatures will start to fall into the upper 40s and lower 50s tonight. By Monday, a subtropical ridge of high pressure will start to build in from the south allowing temps to soar into the upper 60s to near 70 by the afternoon. To the north a stationary front will attempt to approach Eastern NC, increasing the risk for mostly cloudy skies across the area.
By Thursday, record setting temperatures are likely as daytime highs may reach the upper 70s and lower 80s. The record for Thursday is 80 degrees which was set in 1980, and the all-time record high for February in Greenville is 84, which was set on February 27, 1997.
